The truth is still out there... and maybe right here
EUREKA SPRINGS -- The 23rd Annual Ozark UFO Conference convened this weekend at the Inn of the Ozarks and had a few big-ticket speakers on everything from 2012 and metaphysics to the abductee/ET contact phenomenon.
John Major Jenkins has published several books about his independent research into the Mayan culture and the 2012 prophecies. He has done extensive research for the last 30 years, taking several trips to Central America.
He spoke about the truths as well as the myths of the 2012 "end of the world" scenario popularized in movies and books and elaborated on whether the Maya really identified the date and what they believe about it.
His talk centered on "Lord Jaguar," a Mayan king who will return in a reincarnated form to complete a ritual sacrifice marking the end date of Dec. 21, 2012.
He also updated the crowd on his most recent explorations.
"Jaguar King is the only Mayan inscription that mentions 2012," he told the packed conference room, "and this only came to light in the last four years. Izapa is the origin place of the 2012 calendar. It is two thousand years old."
Jenkins is the originator of the "galactic alignment" theory of 2012. He states there are two astronomical alignments from the perspective of the Earth, one to the Milky Way galactic center, and the other to the Pleiades. He showed how the Kukulcan pyramid at Chichen Itza creates the "serpent of light" on the equinoxes, how the Mayan "ball court" lines up with the winter solstice, and how both relate to these alignments.
While Jenkins' talk was not specifically about UFOs, he said the Maya do have UFOs as part of their folklore and tradition, "going way back," as reported to Robert Sitler in his book, The Living Maya.
Jenkins said Dec. 21, 2012, is the end of the Maya's "long count" calendar, which completes the precession of the equinoxes once every 26,000 years.
He said the Mayan prophecy about 2012 concerns a "vain, false ruler at the end of the age who has to be done away with by the hero twins before their father deity can be resurrected."
"The sun will be reborn in 2012 when it lines up with the dark rift (the Shibalba Re) of the Milky Way," Jenkins said.
In terms of the sacrifice by the Jaguar King, he said it is symbolic of what needs to happen for the birth of the new world.
"The world will be reborn in 2012," he said. "And we are part of the ballgame. We can't wait around for the 2012 bus; we are the 2012 bus. We have to sacrifice the illusions that keep us stuck."
He explained the Mayan glyph 7 Macaw.
"The Macaw bird is the vain and false ruler that the hero twin had to shoot out of the tree. He's squawking and deceiving people. The chief dark lord of deception is 7 Macaw."
He said people need to put ego back into "right relationship with the source of divine consciousness."
On the other end of the spectrum, UFO abductee/ET contact Steven Jones from the UK spoke about having been abducted since the age of five in 1962.
He talked about how his first contacts were with the short, robotic "greys" and how as a child he didn't fear them but came to fear his experiences as a teenager.
He said in 2001, the greys "stepped behind the barrier and the 'light beings' stepped in."
He described them as more than 9 feet tall and "otherworldly," having a humanoid shape but filled with sparkly lights.
His most recent contacts have been with "human-appearing ETs, stunningly beautiful," having blond hair and blue eyes. He said they are advanced in science, and their emotional range is different.
"They are, after all, alien."
This contact started in February, he said.
He said he has been aboard alien craft and seen hybrid human/ET fetuses in "fish tanks." He also played with hybrid children. He has also been taken to a crystalline planet that seems to be a meeting place.
"The ETs want us to stop being fearful," he said. "They've done procedures, but nothing different from what happens in a hospital. They've never hurt me."
He said the ETs are all around us and do attend UFO conferences, along with members of clandestine agencies.
"Our awakening is about how we treat ourselves, each other and the planet," Jones said. "ET contact is about us becoming aware of our full potential."
He said the ETs have told him that what will happen over the next few years is an awakening of the 90 percent of our DNA that we don't use, that scientists call "junk DNA."
He called that 90 percent "the sleeping element that will be the fundamental element of our awakening."
He said the existence of the ether was proven in 1986 and published in an article in Nature.
"The ether connects everything. You can affect things, but you have to speak from the correct language -- the language from the heart. We lose the ability to speak from our hearts. Be aware of what we say and how we say it. It's about intention. Intention is stimulating the evolutionary process.
"The eyes of the universe are fixed firmly on us. This planet is not in the boondocks."
Other conference speakers included Travis Walton, of "Fire in the Sky" fame; Kathy Marden, niece of Betty and Barney Hill, the couple abducted in 1961; and Linda Moulton Howe, an internationally known UFO and crop circle researcher who has spoken at this conference for many years.
