Barb Elizabeth Newlon, 58, of Eagle Rock, Mo., passed away on June 26, 2011 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., following a short illness.

Ms. Newlon was born in Kansas City, Mo., August 30, 1952 to Wanda and Pharm Adams, who preceded her in death.

Barb moved to Eagle Rock in 1993, and many will remember her from L & L convenience store, the Office Pub and for the last six years, and as Dietary Kitchen Manager for Peachtree Village at Holiday Island. She was a first responder for the Eagle Rock Fire Dept. for many years. She was an die-hard camper and loved her job as Viney Creek Campground host from 1999-2002.

Surviving are her special friend, Lori Taton of Eagle Rock; son, Mickey Newlon; daughter, Krisi Newlon; grandsons Levi Newlon and Jordan Newlon; granddaughter Haleigh Newlon; brother David Adams and Aunt Mary Cooksey all of Kansas City; and Uncle Tommy Cooksey of Jonesboro, Ark.

Barb was a loving, tender, kindhearted soul and will be missed by all who knew her.

Contributions may be made to the Eagle Rock Fire Dept. A memorial will be held at the Eagle Rock Community Center Sept. 3 at 3 p.m.
