Taree Taylor passed away Dec. 15 surrounded by her beloved dogs, Jack and Grace, and her son nearby.
She was born Theresa Leigh Taylor in Santa Monica, Calif. Her youth was spent living and going to school in New Mexico, Texas, Idaho, Washington, Montana, South Dakota, and finally, back to Southern California in 1964.
She moved to Eureka Springs in 1999.
Taree became a labor/delivery nurse at County General Hospital in Los Angeles, a job she truly loved. She later moved up to administration in that hospital.
For many years Taree was co-owner, with her mother, of Taylor-Page Inn, and later the Paper Rose Tea Room, where for several years she opened on Christmas Day to serve a free, warm holiday meal to the homeless, needy or anyone who just needed a friendly place to go.
Taree was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Taylor; sister, Ronni Brady; and brothers Kent and Rod Taylor.
She is survived by her mother, Jeanne Taylor; son Paul Dodd; grandsons Pearson Dodd and Aiden Chalfant; sisters Kymm Fleischman and Cindy Skoglund, and brother-in-law George Fleischman; nieces Andrea Marshall, Jessica Auxier, Allison Taylor, Shannon Walton, Devon Skoglund, Ann Stathas; nephew Larry Stathas; and two "what the hell was I thinking?" ex-husbands.
A memorial service/celebration of life will be scheduled later.
