Mitchell Wilkinson

Mitchell Malloy Wilkinson, 93 of Denton, Texas, and previously from Holiday Island, Arkansas, passed away May 19, 2020. Mitch was born on May 9, 1927, at home in Junction City, Arkansas. At the age of three Mitch memorized and recited the Child’s Catechism at Scotland Presbyterian Church, where he was a member for many years. After graduating from high school, during WW II, Mitch enlisted in the Army serving as a radio mechanic. He then attended both Arkansas College (Lyon College) and the University of Arkansas, where he met his future wife, Alise, at a Westminster Presbyterian social gathering. In 1952 he graduated the “U of A” with a BS in Electrical Engineering. Mitch and Alise married in 1956, moved to Dallas where they made their home for over 30 years, retiring to Holiday Island, Arkansas in 1989- fulfilling Mitch’s dream. Mitch spent the next 25 years in Arkansas actively involved in Eureka Springs (ES) Presbyterian Church as an Elder and faithful choir member. Mitch loved to serve, and during his retirement he volunteered with Hospice, Rotary, the 2011 ES High School InvenTeams and Opera in the Ozarks.

Mitch loved and was committed to his “Bunny”- Alise. His other passions were music, singing, travel and sweets. He was a man of integrity who stepped up and became a primary male role model for his beloved grandson, Paul. He remained a faithful friend of Bill W. for over 45 years.

Mitch is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Alise (Shook) Wilkinson, and his parents Mayme Alice (Mitchell) and Charles Davidson Wilkinson. He is survived by his daughter, Valorie Grace Wilkinson Frederico, son, Theodore, (Ted) Mitchell Wilkinson, grandson, Joseph Paul Frederico and cousin, Robert Mitchell Warren.

Graveside service is Saturday, May 23rd, 2020, 11 a.m. at Scotland Cemetery in Junction City, Arkansas.
