Citizens of the Week

Wednesday, July 22, 2020

June Hegedus and June Owen are this week's Citizens of the Week. They were nominated by Penny Sullivan, who thanked them for being the biggest supporters of parades and events with their "exquisite handmade costumes and joie de vivre." "Sidelined by COVID, June Hegedus ordered 100 Eureka Loves You masks and has been handing them out to maskless strangers downtown," Sullivan said. "She has also knitted over 35 happy rainbow scarves and given them to folks to keep their spirits up! June Owen is in absolute quarantine but is now making hats to match the scarves."

  • I can only conclude this was poorly written? Surely June and June arenít passing out masks or making masks that are being passed out downtown if one or both are Covid positive?

  • June is in strict quarantine because she is an elderly person and canít take the chance of contact with Covid. She is not Covid positive. Kudos and thanks to both Junes and Samantha for making them much deserved citizens of the week!
