Wednesday, October 7, 2009

The Belle of the Ozarks will host the 18th annual Beaver Lake Eagle Watch excursions on Oct. 16, 17 and 18.

A late morning cruise will depart from Starkey Park at 11 a.m. and afternoon tours will launch at 1 and 3 p.m. Expert guides aboard the Belle of the Ozarks will help passengers spot Bald Eagles as they return to Beaver Lake for the winter.

Immature and mature bald eagles have already been sighted as well as a pair of Ospreys fishing Beaver Lake. Birders will receive fact sheets describing the size, habits and features of the Bald Eagles. Flight displays, favorite perching sites and the unexpected actions of wild creatures will be on view against a backdrop of fall foliage.

Reservations are recommended to guarantee seating and pre-payment is suggested. Excursion fares are $20 for each adult and children, under 12, are $8 each.

For reservations or details, call 1-800-552-3803 or (479) 253-6200. To reach Starkey Park, leave Eureka on US62W, turn left onto Hwy. 187, go 4.5 miles and turn left onto Mundell Rd. and continue 4.5 miles to Starkey Park.
